What's So Great About the Big-Ass Wedding Planning Checklist, Anyway?

Customized Deadlines

Just enter your wedding date and the date you start planning and watch our formula work its magic! Every single task will be assigned a deadline that makes sense for your wedding, using our phase-based wedding planning process.

Color-Coded

Task due soon? It's highlighted in yellow to bring it to your attention. Running behind? Your overdue tasks will automatically turn red so you can't miss them. Done? Check the box and it's instantly grayed out, struck through, and off of your mind.

Gender Neutral

Like everything at Aisle Less Traveled, our planning checklist uses gender neutral language and makes no assumptions. You be you and we'll save you from the eye rolling heterocentrism and gender norms that abound in the wedding industry.

FAQs

The Big-Ass Wedding Planning Checklist is everything you need to get done for your wedding and when to do it.

It’s the exact same checklist we use with our clients over at Aisle Less Traveled and that means it’s legit! We’ve developed and refined this over more than a decade and hundreds of weddings so you can be confident that everything your wedding needs is on the list – no matter what kind of wedding you’re having.

And, because we’ve planned with couples on all sorts of timelines, we’ve developed a phase-based process for planning – which means that whether you have 6 months to plan or 2 years to plan, our checklist sets you up to work through one task at a time, with deadlines based on your individual planning timeline.

How do we do that? A magical formula that’s based on your wedding date and the date you start planning! All you have to do is drop those dates into your checklist and deadlines for every single task are automatically calculated for you.

And it gets better: We’ve color-coded the whole thing so you can focus on what’s most important at any given time. Upcoming tasks are in yellow; overdue tasks are in red; and tasks you’ve already marked completed are greyed out and struck through. It couldn’t be easier to figure out what to do next!

Phased-based planning is a way of approaching wedding planning from wherever you are, RIGHT NOW. That means that instead of a checklist full of things you should do a year or 7 months or whatever in advance of your wedding, which can leave you feeling behind if you have a short time to plan or wondering what to do if you have a longer process, we work based on priorities and the realities of the wedding industry.

So in Phase 1, you’re going to focus on big picture tasks, like figuring out your vision, developing your budget, and finding that perfect venue.

In Phase 2, you’ll research, vet, and hire the vendors whose calendars tend to book up farthest in advance – ensuring you have the best chance of booking the ones you really, really love.

When you’ve finished that, you’ll move into Phase 3. That’s when you’ll want to fill in the the rest of your vendor team and put finishing touches on the design of your wedding.

Lastly, in Phase 4, you’ll wrap up the planning and booking steps and switch gears to logistics: what is happening when, and who is doing it?

By working in this manner, you can escape a lot of the stress and pressure that exists to have things done by particular dates. Instead, you’ll go step-by-step in a sensible order (that’s based on our decade+ of experience as professional wedding planners) to get everything done.

Great question! The vast majority of free wedding planning checklists are found on wedding blogs and websites – which means almost all of them have been created by journalists, not wedding planners.

And, uh, no offense, but if you haven’t planned a whole bunch of weddings, the checklist you make is just… a compilation of information you’ve found elsewhere that may or may not be comprehensive, useful, or accurate.

They’re also almost always made for a specific planning timeline (usually exactly one year) which may not align with the amount of time you have planned. So instead freaking out that you’re already behind before you even get started with less than a year to plan or wondering what you should be doing if you have a year and a half, the Big-Ass Wedding Planning Checklist automatically figures out task deadlines that make sense for your planning timeline.

Oh, and did we mention that it’s color-coded to help you focus on what’s most urgent?!

We’re definitely biased, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Instead, you can listen to Liz, a Choose Your Own Wedding™️ member, who said this:

I don’t know that we’ve expressed to you enough, but the Big-Ass Wedding Planning Checklist is life-changing. It’s so, so, so good. I love it! That, and the budget spreadsheet – justshut up and take my money!”

Yes. And no.

Yes, if you find the Big-Ass Wedding Planning Checklist helpful, we would LOVE you to spread the word. Please feel free to tell them about the best wedding planning checklist ever and send them to this page to buy it for themselves!

But also – no, you cannot share it for free. The reason we can offer it to you for such a low price, even though it represents a great deal of work, expertise, testing, refinement, and ongoing customer support is because, as a digital product, we can sell a lot of them without a huge additional investment of time. If it starts getting shared for free, then we stop getting paid for that work and expertise and ongoing support – which would mean we’d have to go back to only offering it to folks who purchase full Choose Your Own Wedding™️ memberships. Plus, you’d be violating the terms of service you agree to when you buy it and then we’d have to get our lawyers involved and nobody wants that.

Because it is massively important to us to be able to offer professional help to everyone planning a wedding, regardless of their ability to spend thousands of dollars on a wedding planner, we’ve chosen to sell both our full wedding planning membership and very specific pieces of it, like the Big-Ass Wedding Planning Checklist, at very low prices. Please help us keep planning affordable by not pirating our products.

No. The Big-Ass Wedding Planning Checklist, along with everything else in our Choose Your Own Wedding™️  membership, is non-refundable.

Once we’ve given you access, there’s no real way to “return” the product, so all sales are final. That being said, if you have any issues with it or you have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us so we can get it sorted out.

We firmly believe that this checklist is worth every single penny you’ll pay for it (and then some!), but if $7 is too big a gamble for you, we suggest you do not buy it.
